Flu vaccination Campaign 2024 2025

This year, appointments for adults (18+) will be available from October

Evidence shows that the flu vaccine can be less effective for adults the longer it has been since you had it.

The flu season normally reaches its height in December or January.

Having the vaccine in October gives you the best protection during these months.
 

Eligibility

The following groups are eligible for the seasonal flu vaccine for the 2024-2025 season:

  • Children aged 2 and 3 years on 31 August 2024
  • School-aged children (Reception to Year 11)
  • Individuals aged 6 months to under 65 years in clinical risk groups
  • Pregnant women
  • Adults aged 65 years and over
  • Residents in long-stay residential care homes
  • Carers and those in receipt of carer’s allowance
  • Household contacts of immunocompromised individuals
  • Frontline health and social care staff

Timings

  • From 1 September 2024: Vaccinations for pregnant women and all children’s flu cohorts will commence.
  • From 3 October 2024: The main flu vaccination campaign for all other eligible adults will begin.

COVID-19 Vaccination – Autumn 2025

Eligibility

You may be eligible for an Autumn 2025 COVID-19 vaccination if you are:

  • Aged 75 or over

  • Living in a Care Home for Older People

  • Immunosuppressed (as defined in national guidance)

These groups are prioritised because they are at higher risk of serious illness from COVID-19.

Booking Your COVID-19 Vaccination

We will be running COVID-19 clinics locally throughout the season. You can:

  • Call the practice to book into our clinics

  • Ask us to book you into a clinic at Moreton Group Practice if you prefer

  • Use the National Booking System (NBS) to choose from a range of community locations

RSV Campaign 2024

RSV Vaccine Eligibility and Timings for 2024

Introduction

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a common respiratory virus that can cause serious lung infections, particularly in infants and older adults. In response to the significant health risks posed by RSV, the NHS has introduced a new vaccination programme starting from September 2024. This programme aims to protect the most vulnerable populations, including pregnant women and older adults, from severe RSV infections and their complications.

Eligibility

The following groups are eligible for the RSV vaccine for the 2024-2025 season:

Pregnant women: The vaccine is recommended during every pregnancy from 28 weeks onwards to help protect the baby after birth3.

Older adults: Individuals aged 75 to 79 years. For the first year of the programme, those who are already aged 75 to 79 years on 1 September 2024 are also eligible as part of a catch-up programme12.

Timings

From 1 September 2024: Vaccinations for pregnant women and older adults (75 to 79 years) will commence12.
